Savor

In an earlier post, I shared that I recently worked on a vision board of sorts. I’m still pondering what I created and want to consider each of the words I chose to include. I’ll talk about the images later, but today, I’ll focus on savor - such a delectable word.

It’s primary meaning is to taste and enjoy completely. What does it even look like to enjoy completely? We move at such rushed paces, that we hardly make time to savor the good things around us. Inhale is probably a more accurate statement. We gulp down social media news, pictures, and updates. We gobble up our foods. We slurp our drinks. Our taste buds and senses hardly have time to register enjoyment as we bolt to the next thing.

The Bible talks about savoring the goodness of God with the passage in Psalms, “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” I think sometimes we hardly notice His goodness, let alone take time to savor it. I want to do more savoring this year. Slowing down. Enjoying completely. And here’s my idea of how to start:

  • Be Present: Slow down, meditate on Scripture, and focus on God's presence.

  • Delight in God: Choose to enjoy His goodness, mercy, grace, and blessings.

  • Apply Truth: Let biblical truths ignite and motivate us to live in a God-honoring way. In doing so, we won’t blow past the goodness He offers.

I want to drink in all He’s offering. Life to the full.

Who wants to join me?
